It was a big week for the Bryan County Redskins Softball team. After not being ranked in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Class A public preseason softball top ten rankings. The Redskins found their name on top of the AJC’s Class A public rankings on Friday morning, August 28th. Then Bryan County took on cross county rival Richmond Hill Wildcats on a senior night for the Redskins and won 1-0 on the arm of their sophomore pitcher.
Sophomore Hayden Joyner threw a shutout to lead the Redskins past the Wildcats 1-0 Friday night. The pitching was the key in the game for both teams. Joyner went through seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out 11.
The Redskins only had four hits in the contest by four different batters, senior Daxne Carrera, freshman Skylar Lee, Joyner, and sophomore Mackenzie Mobley. Lee lead off the bottom of the third for the Redskins and was the only player to score on error. The run was all Joyner needed with her enormous pitching performance. Bryan County remains undefeated, are #1 in the state, and improves to 9-0. Still undefeated and #1in the state!
This week the Redskins take to the diamond at home on Tuesday September 1st at 5 pm against ECI and Wednesday September 2nd versus St. Vincent’s at 6 pm. Then take to the road at Claxton on Thursday September 3rd at 5:30 pm.
