Holiday Hoops Wrap Up: Richmond Hill Stays Perfect with OT Win at SCDS

Leighton Finley’s 13 points led three Richmond Hill double-digit scorers and the Wildcats survived a scare, winning 54-49 in overtime over Savannah Country Day at the final game of the SCDS Basketball Showcase on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Ranked No. 6 in Class 6A by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this week, RHHS is 10-0 to start the season. 

The Hornets (6-4) led 24-20 at halftime and held a 42-41 lead with 40 seconds left in regulation. Country Day was led in the loss by senior Erik Brown’s 15 points, including three 3’s, and freshman Timo Moeller’s 10 points.

Richmond Hill was 22-of-28 (79%) at the free-throw line while SCDS was just 3-for-7. Wildcat seniors Jaeden Marshall and Liam Markgraf scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN 52, BULLOCH ACADEMY 42

Senior sharp-shooter Cooper George scored 12 points, making four three-balls, to lead the Raiders over the visiting Bulloch Academy Gators. Thomas Davidson chipped in nine points to aid George and SCPS had eight different players score in the victory.

BENEDICTINE 46, BETHESDA ACADEMY 38

Senior guard Trent Broadnax scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Cadets (2-2) to the win in a morning game (11:30 am) at the SCDS Basketball Showcase.

EFFINGHAM CO. 71, SOUTHEAST BULLOCH 51

Khiry Wallace poured in 24 points and Caleb Williams 20 for the Rebels (8-3) in a non-region win over SEB (3-3).
