Local Volleyball Notebook: Savannah Arts Academy, Savannah Christian, St. Andrew's, Habersham School win

Savannah Arts Academy sweeps tri-match.

Thursday night Savannah Arts Academy volleyball team played Richmond Hill and Savannah Country Day and swept both matches in games. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Savannah Arts Academy is ranked #3 in the GHSA Class AA.

SAA vs. Richmond Hill: 25-15, 25-14

SAA vs. Savannah Country Day: 25-12, 25-18

On the night, the following Panthers stood out.

Torrin Higginbotham: 5 aces, 8 kills, 1 assist, 2 blocks

Finn Higginbotham: 4 aces, 11 kills, 3 blocks

AK Daugherty: 15 kills, 3 blocks, 8 digs

Lillie Coffey: 1 ace, 1 kill, 35 assists 

Record: Savannah Arts Academy Overall (15-1) Region (4-0)

 

St. Andrew's School sole possession of 1st place

8/25/22 St. Andrew's Girls Volleyball defeats Valwood 3-1

The St. Andrew's Lions Volleyball team traveled to Valwood for a region showdown on Thursday, finishing with a huge victory over the home team. Lizzie Lank '23 led the charge with 25 kills, Isabelle Booth '23 had 17 digs, and Sydney Booth '25 had 23 assists. Anna Spitalnick '23, Reese Young '23, and Sarah Molnar '23 also contributed significantly to the Lions team, who now has sole possession of 1st place in the region. The Lions return to action on Monday, Aug 29th, at home vs. Hilton Head Prep. 

SAS vs. Valwood: 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19

Record: SAS 6-2, 2-0

 

The Habersham School splits tri-match

The Habersham School split a tri-match with ECHS and Woodville-Tompkins last night. In the night's first match, Habersham lost to ECHS 11-25, 16-25. Brownette Olson led the Lady Patriots with 4 kills and Lucy Kelly with 6 assists and 1 ace. 

In the final match of the night, Habersham defeated Woodville-Tompkins 25-18, 25-14 and was led by Pier Schneider with 7 kills, 2 aces; Brownette Olson with 6 kills, Kambria Settlemyer with 4 kills, and Lucy Kelly with 17 assists. Habersham is now 2-10 on the season and 1-0 in region play.

THS vs. Effingham: 11-25, 16-25

THS vs. Woodville:  25-18, 25-14

 

Savannah Christian defeats Calvary and drops the match to Hilton Head Christian.

Girls Varsity Volleyball defeats Calvary 2 – 0

SCPS vs. Clavery:  25-16, 25-14

Girls Varsity Volleyball lost to Hilton Head High School 2 – 1

SCPS vs. HHHS: 25-23, 16-25, 10-1

Record: SCPS Overall (7-5) Region (3-0)
