Savannah's Reed Lotter and Kate Barber are defending their home turf admirably during the Sam Burns Classic, an American Junior Golf Association event being played at the Deer Creek course at the Landings Club this week.

Lotter, a rising senior at Savannah Country Day School, posted a 3-under par 69 in his second round and is tied atop the leaderboard with Jack Usner from The Woodlands, Texas, entering the final round on Thursday. In the Girls division, Barber, 14, is alone in fourth place at 1-under par after carding a 2-under 70 in the second round.

Barber trails leader Julie Shin of Brambleton, Va., by three strokes and is only two shots ahead of Savannah Mary Miller, a rising sophomore at Savannah Christian Preparatory School.
