JC Upton Calvary Day School Senior Soccer
JC, a senior goalkeeper and four-year varsity player, completed the soccer season with 25 saves and 4 shutouts, helping the Cavaliers get off to a 6-0 record. JC had a tremendous last game of his career as he stopped 8 shots in a key region win over Savannah Country Day 2-1.
JC was a leader for the Cavaliers team this season. Upton named team captain and was the glue that held the team together according to Head Coach Chad Griffin. “JC has put the C in Captain for us. JC has been a tremendous leader for us; someone you can always depend on. He loves this team and this program. JC is what us coaches call a glue guy. JC kept the team together. I love all he does for this team,” said Griffin. “JC is an outstanding student/athlete for our underclassmen to look up to.”
J.C. has been a very active student on campus, besides participating in Soccer. Upton patrticpated on the swimming team, ran Cross Country, was involved in Student Life organization, an National Honor Society memeber, and took part in Dancing with the Calvary Stars. JC has also served as Student Government President, a Writing Center tutor, and as a Student Ambassador. J.C. earned a Georgia Certificate of Merit and was was named All-Greater Savannah Honorable Mention for Soccer last year.
Upton plans to attend Liberty University and major in Education.
