GHSA Baseball Playoffs: Who Are the Eight Teams in It To Win It? Plus Final Standings!

It's Play Ball  in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state baseball playoffs. Teams wiil step up to the plate this week, and eight Savannah-area baseball teams are looking to win a state championship in their respective classifications. Five teams will host, and three will be on the road.  The Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) and Georgia Association of Parachiaol and Private Schools (GAPPS) baseball tournaments start next week (April 29). 

 

The five teams that host are GHSA Class 3A Region 3 champions Calvary Day School. Teams that finished second place also host Richmond Hill in Class 7A from Region 1, Savannah Country Day took second place in a tiebreaker in GHSA Class 3A Region 3, and Bryan County, which missed out on winning the GHSA Class A D1 title by a tiebreaker with Metter High School. Fourth place finishers South Effingham in GHSA Class 6A Region 2, in GHSA Class 4A was Islands, and in GHSA Class 3A Region 3 Savannah Christian are on the road. 

 

All series are best of 2 out of 3. On the first date, the teams will play a doubleheader, with the second game following 30 minutes later. If a third game is needed, it will be played the following day at the higher seed's field (IF GAME). Below are this week's matchups, and final standings for the 2024 GHSA baseball season are also included.

BASEBALL PLAYOFF SCHEDULE

GHSA Class 7A 

Thursday 4/25

Region 1 #2 Richmond Hill (16-11) hosts Region 4 #3 Grayson (17-12) 

(DH) at 4:30 p.m. If the game is on Friday, it will be at 4:30 p.m.

 

GHSA Class 6A

Thu. 4/25

Region 2 #4 So. Effingham (19-11) at Region 3 #1 Woodward (21-9) 

(DH) 4:30 p.m. If the game is Friday at 4:30 p.m.

 

GHSA Class 4A

Thu. 4/25

Region 3 #2 Benedictine (18-11) hosts Region 2 #3 Baldwin (12-11) (DH) at 4 p.m. If the game is Friday at 4 p.m.

 

Thu. 4/25

Region 3 #4 Islands (20-10) at Region 2 #1 West Laurens (18-9) (DH) 3 p.m. If game Friday at 5:30 p.m.

 

GHSA Class 3A

Tue. 4/23 

Region 3 #1 Calvary (18-5) hosts Region 2 #4 Jackson (8-18) at Grayson (DH) at 4 p.m. If the game is on Wednesday, at 3 p.m.

Region 3 #2 Savannah Country (12-14) hosts Region 2 #3 Peach Co. (18-11) (DH) at 5 p.m. If the game is on Wednesday, at 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, 4/23, Region #2 Bryan Co. (18-11) hosts Region #2 Swainsboro (15-10) (DH) at 4 p.m. If the game is on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
