STEM Boys defeats West Chatham for SCCPSS Middle School Soccer Title

The STEM Ravens capped off an undefeated season with a thrilling 2-1 win over West Chatham in the middle school soccer championship at Savannah High Stadium. 

Colt Lawhorn and Kyle Simpson put balls in the net for STEM, while Aker Caballero tallied the lone goal for WCMS.

STEM finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record. Ford Beckmann is the Ravens' team captain.

WCMS finished the season with a 5-1 record. Kevin Cruz-Carrillo is the Wildcats' Team Captain.

Head coach John Adinyira and assistant Heather Ogle led STEM and the Head coach was Richard Bradnock for WCMS.

 

STEM Girls Hold Off Garrison To Claim SCCPSS Middle School Soccer Championship

 

In a matchup featuring two strong teams in the SCCPSS Middle School Girls soccer championship, STEM holds off Garrison 2-1.

STEM was paced by Alyssa Gibson, who scored a goal and made consistent plays on both ends of the field all night. Macy Watkins also put one in the net for the Lady Ravens.

Garrison countered with a quick strike from Ryanne Gunn some 15 seconds after STEM scored their first goal. 

This is the first goal that has been scored on STEM this entire season. GK Samone Ray had several beautiful saves throughout the match. Not to be outdone, Garrison had only given up one goal all year, and keeper Ella Nightingale was up to the challenge against STEM with several saves, particularly early in the match.

STEM finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record with the win. With the tough loss, the Lady Gators of Garrison finished the year 5-1.

Team Captains for STEM include Reese Creeden, Alyssa Gibson, Samone Ray, and Amelia Tvrdy.

Team Captains for Garrison include Brooklyn Linstroth and Ryanne Gunn.

STEM coaches are head coach Angela Keel and assistant coach William Buckley III. Head coach Jamie Salas lead Garrison.

 

WCMS wins the 2024 SCCPSS Middle School Baseball Championship

 

In a pair of #2 seeds in the championship baseball game, West Chatham Middle School leaned on pitcher Ryder Lane to lead the Wildcats over the Tybee Island Maritime Academy Tide Monday 6-4. Lane pitched a complete game, holding TIMA to four runs, three earned. WCMS leadoff hitter Samuel Guedez had a hit and scored two runs. Alivia Smith also had a hit and scored a run.

WCMS and TIMA were runners-up in their divisions but toppled the #1 seeds to advance to Monday's final. In the semi, WCMS defeated STEM 2-0, while TIMA bested Hesse 2-0 to set up the showdown on Monday.

WCMS finished the season 6-1, while TIMA finished 4-2.

Head Coach Jordan Severs led WCMS. TIMA is led by Head Coach Joseph Toole.

WEST Division downs EAST Division in Boys 8th Grade Hoops Showcase

 

Renewing a popular game that has not been played since the Covid-19 pandemic,  8th Graders from West Division schools beat 8th Graders from East Division schools 51-37 in a Showcase Game played at Johnson High.

The EAST was led in scoring by Jamari Jenkins (Myers) with 13 points.  The WEST was led by Ervin Floyd (Rice Creek) with 11 points.  Kyrie Davis (West Chatham) chipped in 10 points.

The West team was led by Coach Phillip Perry of West Chatham.  The EAST team was led by Coach Francis Cave of Myers.

 

EAST Division topples WEST Division in Girls 8th Grade Hoops Showcase

 

Renewing a popular game not played since the COVID-19 pandemic, 8th Graders from East Division schools beat 8th Graders from West Division schools 42-28 in a Showcase Game played at Johnson High.

Sa'Maya Harris (Garrison) led the West in scoring with 11 points. McKenzie Knight (Georgetown) led the East with 14 points. Jazmine Brown (Myers) scored 11, while Cormora Jones (STEM) added 9.

Coach Derrick McGraw of DeRenne led the West team, and Coach Williams Buckley III of STEM led the EAST team.
