Three local prep head volleyball coaches have nominated not one, not two, but three exceptional volleyball players for the Donatos Volleyball Player of the Week title. They have "Bump, Set, and Spiked" Calvary's Alaina Moultrie, New Hampstead's Jade Bird, and St. Vincent's Kaylyn Gill. All three are the first set of Donatos Volleyball Players of the Week for the 2024 season.

These local volleyball players demonstrated their skills, leadership, and dedication, leading their teams to victory and making a lasting impression on their coaches and teammates, as the Donatos Player of the Week motto states.

Cameron "Bumps" Alaina Moultrie, Calvary Day School

Junior setter Alaina Moultrie played a pivotal role in Calvary Day School against Savannah Country Day and Pike Co. High School. Moultrie's impressive stats, including 32 assists, 8 aces, and 4 digs, highlight her all-around contribution to the team's success.

Brooke Cameron, Calvary Head Coach, said, "Alaina always shows outstanding effort and excels on and off the court. She is a team player that sets from a variety of game-possible positions. I am really proud of how our hitters have rallied around Alaina to run our offense."

Seals "Sets" Jade Bird, New Hampstead High School

Senior setter Jade Bird has proven to be an invaluable asset to the New Hampstead High volleyball team. With 28 assists and 12 digs this week, Bird's consistent performance and unwavering dedication have not gone unnoticed.

Phoenix Head Coach Savannah Seals commended her, stating, "Jade is our only setter and has stepped up in a big way this season. She works hard in practice and games to keep the ball in play and adjust when she needs to. She has continued to make improvements with her hands and is at her best."

Stewart "Spikes" Kaylyn Gill, St. Vincent's Academy

Junior Kaylyn Gill, a setter and right-side hitter for SVA, delivered a standout performance this week, with 32 kills and 21 aces. According to Sarah Stewart, the Saints Head Coach, Gill's ability to score crucial points and set up her teammates for success has made her a force to be reckoned with on the court.

Stewart stated, "Kaylyn is also one of the setters on the squad, so she is a playmaker - making awesome plays this week. She has such a strong serve and swing but also is a great teammate. Excited to see how the rest of the season goes."
