Located on the Eastside of Savannah, Georgia, Savannah High School is a traditional high school that offers a variety of creative liberal studies classes. Students have an opportunity to choose a career pathway in the fields of Small Business, Administrative and Information Support, Food and Nutritional Science, Law and Criminal Justice, and Army JROTC. The school is also supported by Savannah State University, which provides educational assistance through academic programs: Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), Upward Bound, and Educational Talent Search (ETS).
Savannah High's boys' basketball program is one of the most decorated programs in the history of the state. Beginning in 1930, Savannah High has won 11 state championships with the most recent championship taking place in 1998. The school produced college and NBA player Pervis Ellison, who was instrumental in the University of Louisville's men's basketball national championship in 1986.
