There are no returning teams to Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Region 3-4A this football season.  Four out of this five team region have all gone down one classification to Region 4-3A.  Burke County, Cross Creek, Richmond Academy, Thomson departed and Baldwin County moved to Region 4-4A.

GHSA set four newcomers to make up the 2020 GHSA Region 3-4A. This group includes all teams from the Savannah Area. Three teams move up from Region 3-3A, Benedictine, Islands, Jenkins and former GHSA Class AAAAA program New Hampstead drops one classification. All four teams qualify for the GSHA state football playoffs.

Benedictine: The Cadets under Danny Britt for the last 10 years has brought home Benedictine’s only state titles in its 114-year history of playing football. The Cadets kicked off the program in 1902. The championships occurred in 2014 and 2016. Britt has compiled a record of 97-21. BC has 12 region championships in its storied program and five in the last seven seasons under Britt. Last year’s Cadets team finished 8-4, which was the fewest wins by a Benedictine team since 2012 and the last time that the program failed to reach the quarterfinals. Against region opponents, Benedictine has gone 2-0 against Islands and has split the last two games against Jenkins. The Cadets and the New Hampstead Phoenix have never met in a regular or non-region contest.

Head Coach DeShawn Printup officially enters his first season as a head coach, but comes in with a career record of 2-1. They took the interim tag off on March 5, 2020. Under Cameron, Jenkins has made the GHSA playoffs all three years. The Warriors reached the semifinals for the first time in program history in 2019. After the season, Cameron left to take over the perineal state playoff program, Vidalia High School. Jenkins hired Gene Clemons, who has 16 years’ experience coaching high school football. Clemons last stint was at Tucker High School as an assistant, coaching the quarterbacks’ and wide receivers’ coach. He has five years head coaching experience outside of Georgia in Florida and Virginia. Jenkins is 3-0 versus Islands, 3-1 against New Hampstead, and has met Benedictine 53 times with a 11-42 record.
