Girls Basketball: Seven Savannah area girls earn all-state honors & special awards from Sandy's Spiel website

Seven Georgia High School Association girls' basketball players from five local Savannah area high schools received second-team all-state honors, all-state honorable-mention recognition, and special category awards from Sandy's Spiel website — the #1 website for GHSA high school basketball, boys and girls.

Calvary Day School Hannah Cail and Woodville-Tompkins Janiyah Heyward earned second-team all-state honors in their respective GHSA classifications. All-state honorable mentions were Islands High School Veronica Sierzant, Savannah Country Day's Kat Johnson, and Woodville-Tompkins players Sanai Chisholm and Brianna Pelote. 

Special awards went to Sierzant as GHSA Class AAAA top-rebounder, Bryan County's Kayla Wedlow as GHSA Class A D-1 Most Improved Player, and Woodville-Tompkins Brianna Pelote as GHSA Class A D-1 Best Shot Blocker.

Best Shot Blocker: Brianna Pelote, Woodville-Tompkins, Jr.
Most Improved: Kayley Wedlow, Bryan County, Jr. (Improved from 8.7 ppg/2.5 rpg/0.9 apg/1.6 spg to 22.2 ppg/4.6 rpg/3.1 apg/3.9 spg)

Second Team All-State
F – Janiyah Heyward, Woodville-Tompkins, Sr.

Honorable Mention All-State
G – Sanai Chisholm, Woodville-Tompkins, Sr.
C – Brianna Pelote, Woodville-Tompkins, Jr.
