Memorial Day's Boros earns the GIAA Class

Memorial Day School senior Zsolt Boros was named the 2022-23 Georgia Independent Athletic Association Class A Boy's Basketball Player of the Year, the organization announced after the GIAA State Championship games on March 4, 2023. It was a unanimous decision. Boros is the first Matador to win this award according to Memorial Day School.

The Matadors were led in the championship game by Boros, who is from Slovakia and the game's high scorer with 20 points. On the season, Zsolt  averaged 14.5 points a game, shot 50 % from two-point range, 46 % from three-point range, 70 % from the free throw line,  grabbed five rebounds per game, dished out four assists, and  averaged 3.5 steals per game.

Other Matador players selected to the GIAA "A" All-State GIAA Basketball team were junior Matas Aidietis and sophomore Kevin "KC" Edgecombe.
