Richmond Hill junior shortstop Aubrey Ragins turned in a huge week against one of the Wildcats region toughest opponents, helping lead the Wildcats to a series win over Colquitt County. Her performance earned her recognition as the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Softball Player of the Week.

In three games from August 26 to 28, Ragins hit .571 with three home runs and seven RBIs. She played a major role both at the plate and in the field, finishing the series with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and ten defensive chances.

Ragins had her biggest game on Tuesday, August 26, when Richmond Hill defeated Colquitt County 9-1. She hit three home runs in that game alone—one in each of the first, third, and sixth innings—and drove in five runs. On Thursday, the Wildcats split a doubleheader with Colquitt, losing the first game 1-0 before bouncing back for a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Ragins collected two hits in the victory, stole two bases, and continued her strong defensive play.

Richmond Hill head coach Chris Jenkins praised her all-around ability and instincts.

“She is a true 5-tool player, as dynamic as she is with the bat in her hand she is also a game changer in the field and on the base paths. Everything she does on the field is instinctual and effortless, entertaining to watch,” Jenkins said.

As a sophomore, Ragins was one of the top players in Georgia. She hit .467 with 19 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases. She earned GHSA Coaches All-Region 1-6A First Team and Savannah Morning News All-Greater Savannah First Team honors in 2024.

With her strong start this season, Ragins is proving once again that she’s one of the area’s top all-around softball players.
