BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Even with injuries thinning their varsity lineups, Savannah Arts Academy continued its success this season at the 9th Annual Run The Plank Race, as both the boys and girls cross country teams captured first-place finishes Saturday.
The Panthers’ boys won first out of nine teams with 107 total runners, marking their third straight meet victory. Top finishers included Nico Klaras (2nd overall), Walter Yang (3rd), and Alex Domazet (4th).
The girls' team extended its winning streak to six consecutive meets, placing first out of seven teams in a field of 83 runners. Francie Tedder led the way with a first-place overall finish, followed by Ava Treece (4th), McKay Bennett (5th), and Morgan Irvine (8th).
Head coach Steve Ricciardi said this season has tested his squad’s depth more than any before.
“The 2025 XC season has actually proven to be one of the most difficult of my coaching career,” Ricciardi said. “Both boys and girls teams have been plagued with injuries. We have only had full varsity lineups for one or two races. However, it has allowed for the JV team to really step it up to keep both boys and girls teams in target.”
With both teams finding ways to win through adversity, Savannah Arts continues to prove why it’s one of the most consistent cross country programs in the Savanah area and state.
