Savannah QB Club Highlights Week 9 and 10 Playmakers

The Savannah Quarterback Club meets every Monday night during high school football season to honor the top local players. The last two week, the club handed out awards for Week 9 and Week 10 and welcomed several special guest speakers.

Week #9 Huddle – November 3

Guest Speaker: Dusty Dvoracek, former Oklahoma star and Chicago Bears defensive lineman who now works as a college football analyst for ESPN.

Offensive Player of the Week – Jordan Newton, Beach High School
Beach junior running back Jordan Newton had one of the best games of his career. He ran for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns in Beach’s 41–7 win over Johnson.

Defensive Player of the Week – John Gross, Savannah Christian
Savannah Christian senior linebacker John Gross finished with 14 tackles and one tackle for loss in a 37–14 win over Vidalia. His play helped the Raiders end a three-game losing streak.

Week #10 Huddle – November 10

Benedictine swept all the Week 10 awards after a big win over Wayne County.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week – Chris Frazier and Stephen Cannon, Benedictine

Chris Frazier, a Notre Dame commit, scored a 48-touchdown pass and finished the regular season with strong numbers: 36 catches, 602 yards, 10 receiving touchdowns, plus 163 rushing yards with 4 touchdowns (14 on the season) and 1068 all-purpose yards. He was named Region 1-4A Player of the Year.

Quarterback Stephen Cannon completed 7 of 8 passes for 182 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Cannon, a Texas Tech commit, had a strong regular season. He completed 91 of 144 passes (63%) for 1,491 yards, with 20 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran the ball 59 times for 355 yards and four touchdowns. Cannon was named the Region 1-4A Offensive Player of the Year.

Defensive Player of the Week – LaDamion Guyton, Benedictine
Texas Tech commit LaDamion Guyton earned the defensive award after applying constant pressure all night. For the season, he has 49 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, and 15 quarterback hurries.

Guest Speaker: Tyler Siskey, former Ole Miss coach and Alabama recruiting director who now serves as Ole Miss’s Associate AD for Player Personnel and is the founder and CEO of the QwikRecruiting service.

The Savannah Quarterback Club will continue to honor players each Monday as the season progresses through the playoffs.
