Savannah's Kohki Maeda, a sophmore at Savannah Country Day School, posted a score of 4-under par 66 at Chechessee Creek Club in Okatie, S.C., on August 5 and is T3 after the first round of the American Junior Golf Association Junior at Chechessee.
Maeda is only one stroke behind co-leaders Chrisitan Koehn from Winter Park, Florida, and Ambrose Kinnare from St. Augustine, Florida. Earlier this season, Maeda finished 16 at the AJGA Matthew NeSmith Junior Championship in Columbia, S.C., T35 at the AJGA Ben An Junior Championship in Orlando, Fla., T6 at the AJGA Vaughan Taylor Championship in Augusta, Ga., and T19 at the AJGA Babygrande Atlanta Classic honoring Gene Siller in Atlanta, Ga.
