Saxton tied for lead at Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event on Jekyll Island

Guyton's Adler Saxton, a homeschooled high school freshmen, is knocking on the door of his second victory of 2026 on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour. 

Saxton, who already earned one Boys 14-15 win at the weather-shortened Saint Simons Island Junior at Sea Palms in January, is T1 after posting a score of 1-over par 73 on February 7 in the first round of the Jekyll Island Junior Classic being played on the Dunes Course at Jekyll Island Golf Club on Jekyll Island, Ga. 

Saxton is tied atop the leaderboard in the Boys 14-15 age group with Aiden Wilkinson from Baxley, Ga., and Beckham Cummings from Fleming Island, Fla. Jonathan Budnick from Pooler, Ga., is T10 after a round of 7-over 79. 

In the Boys 16-19 age group, Savannah's Hamp Threlkeld, a senior at Benedictine Military School, is T10 with several other golfers after carding a first-round score of 2-over par 74. And in Girls 12-19, Savannah's Maya Lilja-Vazquez, a sophomore at Savannah Arts Academy, is in solo second place following a first-round score of 6-over par 78.
