The Lions opened strong behind a 37-yard touchdown run from quarterback Pat Jackson, followed by two defensive stops and a second touchdown drive capped by Darius Chapman’s 4-yard score. Another score with a successful two-point conversion gave the Lions a 16-0 lead early in the second quarter.

After Hilton Head answered with a jump ball touchdown pass, senior running back Amari Cook delivered the turning point with a 55-yard touchdown run on a counter play. The two-point PAT run failed. Lions led 22-8 at this point.

Hilton Head responded with another touchdown pass, but the two-point conversion run was stopped, keeping the Lions ahead 22-14. With under 15 seconds left in the half, Jackson rolled left and found wide receiver Josiah Bowers for a 15-yard touchdown strike. The PAT run attempt failed, but the 28-14 margin stood as the final score after lightning halted play at halftime.

Next Up:
St. Andrew’s returns to action at home next week against Central Fellowship Christian. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Daffin Park. Coach Worthington stated, “Central Fellowship Christian is a tough football team with a power running game. We will need to play 4 quarters and be physical for the entire game, as they wore us down last year. We need to eliminate turnovers on offense and prevent big plays in our opponents' passing game.
