For 80 years, the Savannah Quarterback Club has supported local football and recognized the high school players who make Friday nights special.
Every Monday night, members come together for the camaraderie, plenty of college football talk, and their weekly game picks. They also hear from a guest speaker and finish with a question-and-answer session. But the most important part of the night is recognizing the local high school athletes who earned it on Friday night.
Georgia’s oldest quarterback club holds its weekly meetings at the American Legion, located at 1108 Bull Street, just south of Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia.
That tradition continued Monday night when the club held its first meeting of the 2026 season and honored four players for their performances during the opening two weeks.
WEEK 1
Calvary Day senior quarterback James Mobley was named the Week 1 Offensive Player of the Week.
Mobley passed for 319 yards and three touchdowns against Glynn Academy. He also scored a touchdown on a run in the Cavaliers’ season-opening victory.
Windsor Forest junior linebacker Antonio Wolfolk earned the Week 1 Defensive Player of the Week award.
Wolfolk recorded 16 tackles while helping the Knights defeat Beach in overtime.
Another Calvary Day player received recognition for Week 2.
WEEK 2
Cavaliers linebacker Gabriel Ausfeld was named the Week 2 Defensive Player of the Week after recording four sacks against Jenkins.
Bethesda Academy junior quarterback Jordan Turner received the Week 2 offensive honor following a big performance against Savannah Christian.
Turner passed for 280 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 172 yards and another score as the Blazers earned a 32- 28 victory.
For Turner, the honor meant more than the numbers. He played with a heavy heart after his uncle (Head Coach Antwain Turner's brother) passed away the day before the game.
Radio host Bill King served as the guest speaker for the club’s opening meeting on Sept. 14.
The club has another strong lineup scheduled throughout its 80th year.
