As Hurricane Milton approaches the gulf coast of Florida, expected to make a direct hit on Tampa, Florida, high school football games in Georgia have been adjusted for this week. The safety of students and families is a priority, and schools are taking precautions.

According to social media posts, SCCPSS (Savannah-Chatham County Public School System) schools will switch to e-learning on Thursday due to the threat of Hurricane Milton. One game has already taken place: South Effingham hosted Glynn Academy on Tuesday night, October 8, 2024, and lost 31-0.

Effingham County High School is scheduled to play tonight, October 9, 2024 against Evans High School in Augusta, Georgia. Despite the weather concerns, three more games are still scheduled for Thursday night, October 10, 2024.

  • Tuesday: South Effingham vs. Glynn Academy (Final score: 31-0)
  • Wednesday: Effingham County vs. Evans (in Augusta)
