Hancock Day School 8th grader Kate Barber will be a part of an unprecedented juniot golf tournament in November.
Barber carded scores of 71-72 at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. August 1-2 to finish 1-under par and win her regional qualifer in the The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. Her victory earned her a spot in the National Championship, which will be played November 15-17 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta in Kinder, Louisiana, and will be televised on Golf Channel in prime time.
Barber, 13, also recently finished T3 in the Girls 13 age division at the 2020 US Kids Golf World Teen Championship played at the Longleaf Golf & Family Club in Pinehurst, N.C. She was of only four players under par in the 54-hole even after posted scores of 76-69-70 (1-under par total).
The The Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship is open to boys and girls ages 8-18 who are competing in one of the four age categories: Boys 14-18, Boys 13-Under, Girls 14-18 and Girls 13-Under. The event will identify the top 140 players that advance through qualifying that is expected to attract more 7,500 participants trying to advance.
