Two Savannah Area players delivered strong performances last week: New Hampstead sophomore Ryder Lane and Savannah Christian senior Chase Boyer, named the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week.

Lane earns Pitcher of the Week honors, while Boyer is recognized as the Position Player of the Week after producing in big moments for their respective teams.

Pitcher of the Week – Ryder Lane

New Hampstead High School | Sophomore

Lane turned in an outstanding outing on the mound in New Hampstead’s 4-0 win over Jenkins on Feb. 24.

The sophomore right-hander pitched a complete-game shutout, going seven innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters.

Lane also helped his own cause at the plate, finishing the game with two hits and two RBIs in the Phoenix victory.

New Hampstead head coach Noah Winstead said Lane’s impact goes beyond the box score.

“Ryder is a leader on this team. His age says he’s young, but when he’s on the diamond he leads like a senior,” Winstead said. “The guys trust him and so do I.”

Winstead also pointed to Lane’s team-first mentality. Recently, the sophomore asked if he could help the junior varsity pitchers improve their mechanics, showing his commitment to the entire program.

“He’s extremely selfless and cares about the success of the program,” Winstead said.

Position Player of the Week – Chase Boyer

Savannah Christian | Senior Shortstop

Savannah Christian senior shortstop Chase Boyer earned Player of the Week honors after a pair of strong performances in back-to-back games.

In a game against Hilton Head Christian on Feb. 25, Boyer went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, four RBIs, and a home run, helping power the Raiders’ offense.

He followed that performance the next night against Camden County on Feb. 26, finishing 2-for-4 again with two runs scored, two RBIs, a home run, and a triple.

Savannah Christian head coach Matt Oglesby praised Boyer’s leadership and effort.

“Chase is a hard worker and a leader on the field,” Oglesby said.

Boyer’s timely hitting and power at the plate helped spark the Raiders' offense in both games.
