Savannah, Georgia - Abby Walsh, a junior from Calvary Day School, is making headlines as a standout player in flag football. During the week of October 23-28, she played a crucial role in helping Calvary Day School secure victories in 4 out of 5 games. Here's a look at her performance last week from each position.
Abby was a triple-threat player on the football field, excelling as a quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. At quarterback, she completed 30 of 56 passes for 340 yards and five touchdowns. When she was positioned as running back, she carried the ball 22 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns. Then, as a wide receiver, she caught 15 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
Coach Nick Grassi of Calvary Day couldn't be happier with Abby's contributions. He describes her as a "Swiss Army knife" on the field and the coach's dream player who does whatever the team needs. Coach Grassi also highlights Abby's incredible ability to avoid having her flag pulled by opponents, a skill that doesn't show up in the stats. He adds, "She will do what's asked and give it 110% on every play."
Abby Walsh's versatile athletic skills make her a well-deserved recipient of the Grassi Roofing Prep Sports Report Flag Football Player of the Week award, setting a shining example of how flag football has grown in the Savannah area.
