Savannah's Dollander T3 after first round of Georgia Open

Savannah's Bear Dollander, a junior at Benedictine Military School and one of Georgia's highest ranked junior golfers, carded a score of 3-under par 68 on July 31 at Dalton Golf & Country Club and is T3 at the 74th Golf Pro Payments Georgia Open. 

The Georgia Open is the Georgia PGA Section's championship event, played by elite amateurs and professional golfers. Dollander trails leader R.B. Clyburn, III, an amateur who played college football at Georgia Tech and qualified for the 2021 US Open played at Oakmont Country Club, by two strokes and professional golfer Anthony Maccaglia by one stroke.

The 17-year-old Dollander is in a three way tie for third with Wofford College golfer Glover Amick and former Wofford College golfer and South Carolina Upstate Amateur Championship champion Matthew Larkin. 

Last week, Dollander was a member the victorious Team Georgia in the Georgia State Golf Association's inaugural Kilite Cup matching Georgia junior golfers against junior golfers from Scotland, and he won the Georgia High School Associaiton Class AAAA indvidual championship in May with a score of 10-under par for 36 holes.
