Two Coastal Empire players stepped up in big ways last week on the baseball diamond. Effingham County senior Kyle Thomas and Benedictine sophomore Noah Harris have been named the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week.

Thomas earns Pitcher of the Week honors, while Harris takes home Player of the Week after strong performances for the Cadets.

Pitcher of the Week – Kyle Thomas

Effingham County High School | Senior

Effingham County senior Kyle Thomas delivered a strong performance in a cross-county rivalry game against South Effingham on March 3, leading the Rebels to a 4-1 win.

Thomas threw a complete game, going seven innings on 78 pitches, allowing one run with no earned runs, while giving up five hits and one walk and striking out eight batters.

He also contributed at the plate, finishing 2-for-6 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.

Effingham County head coach Eric McCombie said Thomas continues to be a difference maker for the Rebels.

“Kyle is the backbone of our team. He is a leader and a difference maker on the field,” McCombie said. “Anytime he has the ball, we feel good about winning that night. He is as good as anyone in the state.”

Position Player of the Week – Noah Harris

Benedictine Military School | Sophomore

Benedictine sophomore Noah Harris turned in a big week for the Cadets during a three-game series against Southeast Bulloch.

The Cadets opened the series on March 3 with a 6-1 win over the Yellow Jackets. Benedictine followed with a 17-3 victory on March 5 at Southeast Bulloch and completed the sweep with a 13-2 win on March 6.

Over the three games, Harris hit .667 (6-for-9) with a home run and seven RBIs, helping power the Cadets' offense.

He also contributed on the mound, throwing six innings, allowing four hits and one run, with five strikeouts and no walks.

Benedictine head coach Jason Pascual praised Harris for his all-around play.

“Noah has been a consistent performer at the plate, on the mound, and in the field for the Cadets,” Pascual said.
