Holiday break doesn't mean that the high school boys basketball of Savannah will take a break on getting some hard work in. Coach Demetrius Smith of Savannah Country Day is looking forward to him and his Hornets hosting the second year of what he has deemed his Showdown in Savannah Basketball Showcase Event.

This three-day event will host thirteen teams from various places in Georgia and will take place at SCDS. When asked about his goal for the showcase Coach Smith stated, "My goal is to grow the event to shine a light on Savannah's basketball culture and bring more recruiting to the area." Smith, a graduate of the University of Alabama and played basketball, understands the importance of hard work, grades, and exposure.

While this is only the second year of the showcase, Coach Smith is determined it will be an annual thing for years to come. While some tournaments are all about receiving a trophy, Smith has been very adamant about the unique play of his showcase in saying, "The event is all about matching up similar opponents to create competitive games." The coach will be doing his best to get these boys the most exposure for these three days.

For anyone interested in seeing some competitive basketball, all games will be at Savannah Country Day on December 28, 29, and 30. The starting game times will go from 1 pm to 7 pm on the twenty-eighth and 11:30 pm to 7 pm on the twenty-ninth and thirtieth. We wish good luck to all the teams traveling and playing in this event.
