Islands High School Sharks Beat Hometown Rival Savannah Arts Academy

It has been three years since the Islands High School Sharks have had that winning feeling when it comes playing Savannah Arts Acaemy.  But last night in the Shark Tank, it was the best feeling in the world.  This long expected rematch between the Sharks and Panthers was here and the Sharks were ready.  First Island played Groves winning in 2 sets, which got the team pumped and excited to play the Panthers.

Both the Sharks and Panther teams were ready for this match up.  The Sharks dominated the court after they came back from a being down 7-0  in the first few minutes of the first set.  It was point for point  after that, but the Sharks won 25-22.  Islands took control of the second set, playing an incredible defense and  outstanding serves to win the game 25-13.  

Islands High School only Senior Avery Burke played an outstanding match against SAA to make her Senior night even more special.

 

 

Islands defeated Groves 25-12, 25-12

Duck, Isabel: 13 Assists, 2 Kills

Sierzant, Veronica: 6 Aces

Summerall, Hannah: 6 Kills

Burke, Avery: 5 Kills

Collins, Anna: 5 Aces

Islands defeated Savannah Arts Academy 25-22, 25-13

Leading for the Sharks were

Burke, Avery: 8 Kills, 5 Digs, 1 Block, 1 Assist

Sierzant, Veronica: 5 Kills, 7 Digs

Lanigan, Aislinn: 13 Assists, 2 Aces, 1 Kill, 1 Dig, 1 Block

Bossler, Kate: 5 Blocks

Islands is now 18-3 overall and 4-2 in region (including 2 forfeits to West Laurens)

Next match 10/8  vs WIndsor Forest at 5 pm in the Shark Tank.
