Two senior standouts delivered big performances last week, earning John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week honors. Islands' Jack Young was dominant on the mound in a pitchers' duel, while Effingham County's Aiden Garcia led the Rebels' offense with clutch hitting.

Pitcher of the Week – Jack Young (Islands High School, Senior)

In a big game showdown against South Effingham in Guyton on Friday night, March 7, Young was lights-out on the mound, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, four walks, and striking out four in a 1-0 victory. He worked out of multiple jams, keeping his composure against a tough South Effingham lineup.

"Jack went to battle for us this week! He got into some jams and pitched his way out of them. He stayed composed and shut down a talented South Effingham team," said Islands head coach Brandon Collins.

Player of the Week – Aiden Garcia (Effingham County High School, Senior)

Garcia continued his impressive season, going 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs in a 13-12 loss to Savannah Christian on Friday, March 7.

Over the week, he hit .444 with one double, five RBIs, and four walks and was hit by a pitch. For the season, he boasts a .485 batting average, a .653 OBP, and a 1.289 OPS, making him one of the most consistent hitters in the Rebels' lineup.

"Aiden has been a pencil-in cleanup hitter all season. He embraced a key role in our lineup, and his daily work ethic is infectious. He's a huge reason why we've been so successful offensively," said Effingham County head coach McCombie.
