John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week (March 10-14, 2025)
Two standout performances highlight this week's John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week. Calvary Day's senior Sam Renshaw was nearly unstoppable at the plate, while South Effingham's junior Lance Cantaline overpowered batters on the mound.
Player of the Week – Sam Renshaw (Calvary Day, Senior)
Renshaw was on fire at the plate, helping lead Calvary Day to five wins in five days. He posted a .786 batting average (11-for-14) with 7 RBIs, seven runs scored, and two doubles over the stretch. His biggest games included a 3-for-3, 2-RBI performance in a 12-0 win on March 11 versus Liberty County and another 3-for-3 outing in a 10-0 shutout on March 13. He capped off the week with a 1-for-1, 2-RBI effort in a 16-0 rout on March 14. During the season, Renshaw is batting .500 and has an on-base percentage of .592.
"Sam has had a great season thus far both at the plate and on the mound. We continue to look for exciting things from him throughout the rest of his high school campaign," said Calvary Day head coach Phillip Lee.
Pitcher of the Week – Lance Cantaline (South Effingham, Junior)
Cantaline was dominant on the mound in a five-inning 11-0 shutout against Statesboro on March 10, 2025, allowing just three hits while striking out 13 of 22 batters faced. He added to his impact at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. More than just a standout player, he is a leader off the field, serving as a Mustang Mentor at South Effingham, helping struggling students, according to South Effingham's head coach, Jesse Osborne.
"Lance has been extremely consistent throughout his high school career," said Osborne. "He is a constant for us and always shows up in big moments."
