Each week during the season, the Prep Sports Report recognizes two athletes, a Player of the Week and a Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top performances on the field. Jenkins freshman Hayden Lego and Calvary Day junior Junior Creager have earned the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week honors for Feb. 16–21 following standout performances that helped lead their teams to key early-season wins.
Pitcher of the Week – Hayden Lego (HV Jenkins, Freshman)
Jenkins freshman pitcher Hayden Lego allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out 11 batters over six innings in a 3-1 win over First Preparatory Christian Academy on Monday, Feb. 16. Lego controlled the game from the first inning to the last, limiting baserunners and recording double-digit strikeouts in the victory.
Coach's Quote: Head Coach Seth Gasin stated, "Hayden is a freshman who has been putting in the work since he stepped on campus last summer. He is now seeing his hard work paying off."
Player of the Week – Junior Creager (Calvary Day School, Junior)
Calvary Day junior catcher/DH Junior Creager went 2-for-4 with an RBI against Roswell on Feb. 20 and followed with a 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs in a 3-2 win over Christian Heritage on Feb. 21. Creager finished the two games 5-for-7 with three RBIs, driving in key runs in both contests.
Coach's Quote: Head Coach Jakob Gross said, "Junior has done a great job of finding any way to contribute. He stepped in to catch when we had an injury and has also been a force at the plate. He is and will be a great contributor in this lineup for us this year."
