Local Volleyball Teams Serve Up GHSA Elite Eight Berths!

Five local volleyball teams out of eleven are still alive in the state playoffs after serving up solid performances in the first two rounds. Three take to the road in the Elite Eight round of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) volleyball playoffs, leaving two at home to host South Effingham High School and Richmond Hill High School. 

 

In the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools (GAPPS), the Habersham School lost to the eventual state champions.

 

In GHSA Class A, Savannah High (23-3), they defeated Brooks Co. 3-2 to advance to the elite eight. The Blue Jackets will face Mt. Pisgah Christian (37-9) on the road on Wednesday, October 25.

In GHSA Class 2A, Savannah Arts Academy (31-8), the Panthers defeated Richmond County Tech Career 3-0 to advance to play at Providence Christian (34-11).

In GHSA Class 3A, Savannah Christian (32-8-3) defeated the Academy of Richmond County 3-0 to advance to play at Hebron Christian (31-15)  on Wednesday, October 25 at 5 PM.

In GHSA Class 6A, South Effingham (22-6), they defeated Veterans High School 3-0 to advance to play at home against Blessed Trinity (21-18)  on Tuesday, October 24 at 4 PM.

In GHSA Class 7A, Richmond Hill (30-8), the Wildcats defeated East Coweta 3-1 to advance to play North Cobb (39-9)at home on Wednesday, October 25.

 

In the GAPPS Division 1 state semi-finals, The Habersham School (25-20) lost to Alleluia Community 3-0 and were eliminated.

 

The following local teams did not move on in the playoffs: Bryan County, Woodville-Tompkins, St. Vincent's, Calvary Day, Savannah Country Day, and The Habersham School.

FINAL SCORES:

GHSA Class 1A

  • Bryan County (21-12) lost 3-0 to Temple (Eliminated)
  • Woodville-Tompkins (15-11) lost to Heard Co. (Eliminated)
  • Savannah High (23-3) defeated Brooks Co 3-2. Advances on the road vs. Mt. Pisgah Christian on Wednesday October 25 time TBA

GHSA Class 2A

  • Savannah Arts Academy (31-8) defeated Richmond County Tech Career 3-0. Advances to play at Providence Christian on Tuesday October 24 time TBA.

GHSA Class 3A

  • Savannah Christian (32-8-3) defeated the Academy of Richmond County 3-0. Advances to play at Hebron Christian on Wednesday October 25 time 5 PM
  • St. Vincent's (26-13) lost to Morgan Co. 3-0 (Eliminated)
  • Calvary Day (19-15) lost to Columbus 3-0 (Eliminated)
  • Savannah Country Day (20-20) lost to Crisp County 3-0 (Eliminated)

GHSA Class 6A

  • South Effingham (22-6) defeated Veterans High School 3-0. Advances to play at home against Blessed Trinity on Tuesday October 24 time TBA.

GHSA Class 7A

  • Richmond Hill (30-8) defeated East Coweta 3-1. Advances to play at home on Wednesday October 25 time 5 PM

GAPPS State Semifinals

  • The Habersham School (25-20) lost to Alleluia Community (28-6) 3-0 (Eliminated). Alleluia Community won the GAPPS state Championship.
