Memorial Day School Alumni Announced as New Head Football Coach & Athletic Director

Memorial Day School is excited to name Tyler Helmly as their new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.                                                                       

         
Tyler, a 2007 Memorial Day School graduate is familiar with the school and all of its programs.  He has always been an enthusiastic supporter as an alumnus, husband, and father. His wife Meredith, a 2006 Memorial Day School graduate, teaches Pre-Kindergarten and all three of their children attend Memorial Day School (Hunter - 3rd grade, Connor - 2nd grade, and Hadleigh - Daycare).  Tyler says, “I am so passionate about fulfilling this dream job of mine.  Since I was a student at Memorial, I have always wanted to return and give back to the school that gave me so much.”

Tyler has been able to work with Mark Sussman over the past several months to ensure a smooth transition.  Mark is retiring after 25 years of service.  Tyler looks forward to an exciting future with Memorial Day School.

The "Coach" Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine "The Prep Sports Report" in 2000. In 2010, the "Coach" started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. He's still going strong, broadcasting on Facebook live and Twitter live every Saturday morning. You gotta love it!
