Playoffs, Playoffs, Basketball Tourney: Get the Schedules Now!

This Holiday weekend and the upcoming week are packed with exciting playoff and tournament sports action in Savannah, featuring high-stakes matchups across football, basketball, and flag football. Here's what you need to know below.

GHSA Football Quarterfinals - Friday, November 29 

The road to the state championship continues with big games in the GHSA Football Quarterfinals and two hosted by our local schools.

Class 4A: Benedictine (7-4) travels to face Blessed Trinity (10-1) at 7:30 p.m.

Class A-3A Private: Two local teams are in action:

North Cobb Christian (10-1) meets Savannah Christian (10-0) at Pooler Stadium, 7 p.m.

Prince Avenue Christian (8-3) faces Calvary Day (10-1) at 7:30 p.m.

 

Savannah Shootout Basketball - Friday, November 29 & Saturday, November 30

The Enmarket Arena will host some of the best high school basketball teams in the region during the Savannah Shootout:

Friday Games:

Girls: Calvary Day vs. Central Fellowship Christian at 5 p.m.

Boys: Johnson vs. Central Fellowship Christian at 6:30 p.m.

BOYS: Savannah High vs. Harlem at 8 p.m.

Saturday Games:

Girls: Beach vs. Jenkins at 2 p.m.

Boys: Beach vs. St. Andrew's at 3:30 p.m.

Girls: South Effingham vs. Calvary Day at 5 p.m.

BOYS: Calvary Day vs. Battery Creek at 6:30 p.m.

 

GHSA Flag Football Playoffs - 1st & 2nd Rounds, Thursday, December 5

The GHSA Flag Football playoffs kick off with single-elimination games at pod locations across the state. Four teams are at each pod. Local teams will battle for a spot in the next round:

SCHEDULE:

Division 1: Savannah High, St. Vincent’s Academy, and Woodville-Tompkins are among the teams competing.

Area 2 #2 - St. Vincent's Academy vs. Area 8 #3 Kings Ridge High School @ Westside Macon (Winner plays the Winner of Shaw HS/Westside Macon HS)

Area 2 #3 – Savannah High School vs. Area 8 #2 Hebron Christian @ Harris County HS (Winner plays the Winner of Central Macon/Harris Co.)

Area 2 #4 - Woodville-Tompkins vs. Area 8 #1 Mount Vernon HS @ Mount Vernon HS (Winner plays the Winner of Mary Persons HS/Columbus HS) 

 

Division 2: HV Jenkins, New Hampstead, Calvary Day School, and Groves represent Savannah. HV Jenkins will host a pod in Savannah.

SCHEDULE:

Area 3 #1- HV Jenkins HS vs. Area 4 #4 Dutchtown HS @ Jenkins HS (Winner plays the Winner of Whitewater HS/Jackson Co. HS)

Area #3 #2 – New Hampstead HS vs. Area 4 #3 Woodlawn @ Stars Mills (Winner plays the Winner of Clarke Central/Stars Mills)

Area #3 #3 – Calvary Day School vs. Area 4 #2 McDonough HS @ Loganville (Winner plays the Winner of Sandy Creek/Loganville)

Area 2 #4 – Groves HS vs. Area 4 #1 Locust Grove @ Locust Grove (Winner plays the Winner of Altoona/Trinity Christian)

 

Division 3: South Effingham, Richmond Hill, and Effingham are in the mix. South Effingham will host a pod in at the Corel.

SCHEDULE:

Area 1 #1 – South Effingham vs. Area 5 #4 Hiram @ South Effingham (Winner plays the Winner of Veterans/SW DeKalb)

Area 1 #2 -Richmond Hill vs. Area 5 #3 Villa Rica @ St. Pius (Winner plays the Winner of Houston Co./St. Pius)

Area 1 #3 – Effingham vs. Area 5 #2 South Paulding @ Peach Co. HS (Winner plays the Winner of Druid Hills/Peach Co)

This is a great way to support our local athletes as they compete in these playoff and tournament matchups. Whether you're cheering on your team at the football field, basketball court, or flag football playoff pods, Savannah sports are in the mix, and as always, there is excitement for the "SAV" to bring home the "SHIP"!
