Two weeks down, ten to go.

That's still not enough to tell us everything. But the picture is starting to get a little clearer.

Richmond Hill, Bradwell Institute, South Effingham, Windsor Forest, Islands, and Calvary Day come into Week 3 unbeaten. Other teams are trying to turn things around, and several matchups Friday night should tell us a little more about where everybody stands.

Week 3 is here!

THURSDAY, SEPT. 3

FINAL: Beach 40, Groves 0

Beach didn't waste much time getting this one going per Dennis Knight of the Savannah Morning News. The Bulldogs rolled past Groves 40-0 Thursday night as senior Jordan Newton ran for 115 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Beach's defense did the rest, holding Groves to just 75 total yards. Beach moves to 1-1, while Groves falls to 0-3.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 4

Jenkins (0-2) at Richmond Hill (2-0), 7:30 p.m.

Jenkins could use a good Friday night, but Richmond Hill isn't exactly the place to go looking for one. The Wildcats are 2-0 and put 42 on the board last week, so the Warriors have their work cut out for them.

Bradwell Institute (2-0) at Valdosta (2-0), 7:30 p.m.

Now this is a football game. Bradwell has scored 112 points in two weeks, but taking that offense to Valdosta against another unbeaten team brings a much different test.

New Hampstead (0-2) at Effingham County (0-2), 7:30 p.m.

Don't let those two 0-2 records fool you. New Hampstead scored 34 in its opener, and Effingham has lost its first two by a total of four points. This one has the makings of a pretty good football game.

South Effingham (2-0) at Windsor Forest (2-0), 7:30 p.m. at Savannah High Stadium

Circle this one. South Effingham has found ways to win two close games, while Windsor Forest has opened Willie Martin Jr.'s first season with two straight victories. One of these local teams will wake up Saturday morning 3-0.

Camden County (2-0) at Benedictine (1-1), 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium

Benedictine went from giving up 58 points in Week 1 to scoring 48 against the defending state champs in Week 2. Now unbeaten, Camden County comes into Memorial Stadium for another big early-season test for the Cadets.

Liberty County (0-2) at Johnson (1-1), 7:30 p.m. at Groves Stadium

Don't dismiss Liberty County because of that 0-2 record. The Panthers lost their opener by three, while Johnson is trying to bounce back after a tough night against South Effingham.

Bryan County (0-2) at Islands (2-0), 7:30 p.m. at Islands Stadium

Islands has quietly put together a 2-0 start and gets another one at home. Bryan County comes to Savannah trying to slow down the Sharks' running game, which has been a big part of their early success.

St. Pius X (1-1) at Calvary Day (2-0), 7:30 p.m.

Calvary has scored 79 points through two games and has already shown it can come from behind. St. Pius X brings another good measuring stick to town for the unbeaten Cavaliers.

Savannah Christian (1-1) at Glynn Academy (0-2), 7:30 p.m.

Don't get fooled by Glynn Academy's 0-2 record. The Terrors have already faced Calvary Day and Camden County, while Savannah Christian heads to Brunswick trying to bounce back from a 32-28 loss to Bethesda.

Savannah High (0-2) at Appling County (1-0), 7:30 p.m.

Here's a strange one. Savannah High has already played two games, while Appling County hasn't finished a complete game yet because of the weather. Friday night finally gives the Pirates a chance to play four quarters.

Athens Academy (0-2) at Savannah Country Day (0-3), 7:30 p.m.

Forget the records for a minute. Country Day has been able to run the football but hasn't turned enough of those yards into points. Athens Academy has had its own problems through two games, so one good night offensively could make a big difference for either team.

Academic Magnet (0-1) at St. Andrew's (1-1), 7 p.m.

St. Andrew's has already seen both sides of Friday night, opening with a 48-0 win before a tough trip to First Baptist. The Lions return home against Academic Magnet, looking more like the team everyone saw in Week 1.

FOUR GAMES TO WATCH

Jenkins at Richmond Hill

The records don't tell the whole story here.

Jenkins comes in 0-2, banged up after playing a tough nonregion schedule to start the season. Richmond Hill survived a close one in Week 1, then came out firing in Week 2 with a 42-7 win.

Two teams coming into Friday night from very different directions. This one is worth watching.

Bradwell Institute at Valdosta

This is where Bradwell gets a chance to make a statement.

Scoring 112 points in two games gets attention. Now Bradwell takes that offense on the road to face Class 7A No. 6 Valdosta, another 2-0 team, and that's where things get interesting.

The Tigers have looked good through two weeks.

Friday night should tell a lot more about just how good.

South Effingham at Windsor Forest

Two local teams. Two 2-0 records. That's enough to circle this one.

But there's more to it than the records. Both programs have found different ways to win through the first two weeks, and now they get each other at Savannah High Stadium.

One of them leaves 3-0.

That's a pretty good reason to pay attention.

Camden County at Benedictine

This one belongs on the list because of what Benedictine has in front of it.

Camden comes to Memorial at 2-0, and the Cadets are getting another quality opponent one week after facing the defending state champs.

Three weeks. Three tough opponents.

THE PSR TAKE

Two weeks have given Savannah area football fans something to work with. Now things start getting interesting.

Bradwell takes that high-scoring offense to Valdosta. South Effingham and Windsor Forest put their 2-0 records on the line. Benedictine gets another unbeaten opponent. Richmond Hill, Islands and Calvary Day are all trying to make it three straight.

Two weeks are enough to get everybody talking. Three weeks?

By Saturday morning, there might be a few more teams everybody better start paying attention to.
