Richmond Hill High School girls' golf team didn't leave much doubt in their win on April 21, at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Area 1 match at the Richmond Hill Golf Course.
The Wildcats captured the GHSA 6A Area 1 championship. They finished 22 strokes better than second-place Lowndes High School. The Lady Wildcats posted the lowest team score in school history, a 224. And it started with a freshman, Ella Kate Woods.
Woods led the way with a 73 to earn medalist honors, followed closely by junior Alexa Mohler’s 74 and senior Amanda Puchales’ 77. Junor Isabella Romine added an 82, and junior Carigan Kicklighter finished with an 83, rounding out the lineup that produced a program-record team score of 224 and a 22-shot victory in the 6A Area 1 tournament.
The team has one more golf match on April 25 at the Blue Devil Invitational at the Georgia Southern Golf Course in Statesboro, Georgia. The team will then focus on the GHSA Class 6A state playoffs on May 18-19th at the Bentwater Golf Club in Acworth, Georgia.
