In the most prolific position on a football team, the quarterback, Savannah Christian’s Spencer Robicheaux has been one of the Savannah area’s best at this position the last two seasons. They recognized Spencer as a Georgia High School Association Coaches 3-A All-region team member, 1st team in 2018 as a sophomore, last season as a junior, 2nd team, and a Savannah Morning News 2nd team All Greater Savannah Offensive team quarterback.
Robicheaux was part of an outstanding group of quarterbacks last season. The Savannah Morning News All Greater Savannah Offensive team had four signal callers on the 1st and 2nd teams in 2019. Three out of the four quarterbacks named were underclassmen, Barry Kleinpeter of Savannah Country Day, Patrick Blake, Jenkins, and Robicheaux. They are all back, all dual threats, and are leaders of their respective teams. The lone senior was Tyler Jackson from South Effingham, who signed last month to attend Brevard College to continue his football career.
Going into the 2020 season, Savannah Christian head football coach Baker Woodward is looking for big things from his returning senior quarterback. “It is always a blessing to have your starting quarterback coming back now as a three-year starter. Spencer is a legitimate dual threat quarterback. He has an enormous arm, but he has a skilled touch on the football and what many coaches would call moxie at the QB position. We are expecting gigantic things from Spencer,” said Woodward. Robicheaux career statistics support Coach Woodward's statement.
Spencer enters the 2020 season as a two-year starter for the Raiders and complied some impressive career statistics. Robicheaux has 3,909 total yards. Throwing the football, he has passed for 3306 yards, on 223 completions out of 393 attempts, with 27 touchdown passes with 11 interceptions. On the ground Spencer ran for 573 yards on 103 carries. Robicheaux has started the last 25 games for the Raiders. Savannah Christian is 19-6 in those games he started and reached the GHSA Class "A" Private football championships Elite "8" the last two seasons.
“Robicheaux has grown from being a nervous sophomore to being a confident leader for our football team. The football team voted him team captain of the 2019 team,” said Woodward. He has an offer to Reinhardt, but several other schools from D1 and D2 are actively recruiting him per Coach Woodward.
