And then there were two!

Savannah Christian and Savannah Arts Academy are still playing volleyball, and both are one win away from reaching the GHSA state championship matches.

The Raiders (45-3) took care of business at home Saturday, sweeping Holy Innocents' Episcopal 29-27, 25-19, 25-18 in the GHSA Class A-3A Private Elite Eight to earn a spot in the Final Four.

Savannah Christian will travel to Atlanta on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to face Lovett (34-6). Match time has not been announced.

Savannah Arts Academy (29-14) had to do things a little differently.

The Panthers dropped the opening set 25-19 on the road at Armuchee but bounced back to win three straight, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18, earning a spot in the Class A/AA Final Four.

Next up is a road trip to Gordon Lee (42-3) for the Final Four.

South Effingham (35-10) also reached the Elite Eight, but the Mustangs' season ended Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Pope (34-9).

So, here's where things stand.

Two Savannah volleyball teams are still alive. Both will be on the road in the semifinals, and both are just one victory away from playing for a state title.

Not a bad way to finish October!

And you know what? October still has a little more volleyball left in it!
