This week’s Savannah Christian Preparatory School Athlete of the Week is freshman golfer Mary Miller. Mary turned in an impressive week of scores for the Raider Golf team, shooting 1 under par at Lost Plantation on Tuesday versus Effingham and South Effingham. Then a 2 under par at Crosswinds on Wednesday versus Southeast Bulloch. On Friday, Miller shot a 43 from the men’s gold tees at the Savannah Country Day School Invitational. There was no rest for Mary as she carded an 18-hole score of 71 at the Glynn Academy Scramble Tournament on Saturday.
Mary has been playing golf since she was 3 years old and said her goal for the season is to earn a spot in the state tournament. Mary says her favorite part of being an SCPS athlete is praying before matches, playing with a team with a competitive mindset at every event, and having Coach Keller supporting them.
When asked what it means to be named SCPS Athlete of the Week, Mary said, “I appreciate being recognized for my hard work and dedication. It’s an honor being selected out of many great athletes.”
