Two local schools, Savannah Country Day and St. Andrew's School announced new head volleyball coaches. Both coaches will lead each school's volleyball programs. Here is their bio's below.
Savannah Country Day
Savannah Country Day announced Sierra Davis as the new Hornet Head Varsity Volleyball Coach. Davis will be teaching middle school physical education. Sierra is from Hilton Head and graduated from Hilton Head High School.
Sierra is a 2019 graduate and former D-1 player at Presbyterian College.
Sierra played outside hitter during her first and second years for the Blue Hose. In her freshmen year, she finished the season with 141 kills and 456 total attacks and finished fourth on the team in kills. In her sophomore year, Davis played in 109 sets, started in 27 of 30 matches, and was named to the Big South All-Academic Team. In the Big South, she finished fifth in the league in kills. She led Presbyterian in kills and was third in blocks during the season. She was sidelined most of the season with injuries during her junior and senior years.
Davis played high school volleyball at Hilton Head High School, where she was a four-year varsity player. She earned All-Region team honors all four years and was a South Carolina High School League All-State team member her junior and senior years.
"Sierra is very energic and has a lot of enthusiasm. She s a great addition to the Hornet coaching staff," said Hornet's athletic director Kenny Conroy. "She brings a lot of experience from travel volleyball to the college level. We are excited to have her."
St. Andrew's School
Mrs. Bobbi Mock has over 30 years of Physical Education experience in the Savannah area. Mock joins the St. Andrew's School Athletic Department as the Head Girls Volleyball Coach after spending two years as a Physical Education teacher and coaching Middle School Boys Basketball at Coastal Middle School.
Before her time at Coastal, she was the Volleyball Assistant Coach, Volleyball Head Coach, Girls Basketball Assistant Coach, and Girls Basketball Head Coach at Savannah Country Day School, where she spent 23 years. Mock also has ten years of experience coaching Middle School Volleyball teams and two years coaching high school tennis.
Mock received Savannah Officials Association Coach of the Year in 2020 and Savannah Morning News Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2011, among other achievements.
