SEHS Cantaline & RHHS Newman catch the Week 4 John Carr Seaport Real Estate Baseball Players of the Week

Richmond Hill High School senior Blayne Newman and South Effingham High School junior Ty Cantaline caught the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Pitcher and Position player weekly awards announced on the Prep Sports Report website. The winners of the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week are nominated each week by Savannah area high school head baseball coaches. 

 

PITCHER of the WEEK

Player: Ty Cantaline - junior Pitcher/Outfielder

School: South Effingham High School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 13 - March 20, 2023

HIGHLIGHT: In the rubber game of a big region series versus Evans High School on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Cantaline pitched five innings, giving up three hits, no earned run, walking one, and striking out five.

 

Note: In three games at the plate, Ty batted .500, going 6 for 12 with three doubles, three runs batted in, and five runs scored.

 

COACH'S COMMENT: "Ty had an outstanding week. He carried the team in the game three's win versus Evans in all aspects of the game," said South Effingham High School Head baseball coach Jesse Osborne

 

POSITION PLAYER of the WEEK

Player: Blayne Newman senior, Infielder/Pitcher

School: Richmond Hill High School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 13 - March 20, 2023

HIGHLIGHT: In three games last week in the open region series of the season versus Lowndes, Blayne recorded a .625 batting average while having five hits, 2 Home Runs, and 4 RBIs with a .667 OBP and 1.375 SLG. Newman also scored two runs reaching base on a walk and did not strike out throughout the entire series.

 

COACH'S COMMENT: "Blayne has become an anchor in our lineup. He has developed an approach and is demonstrating how to be a disciplined hitter at the plate. We are proud of Blayne," said Richmond Hill High School Head baseball coach Thomas Hill.
