The Savannah Arts Academy volleyball team got off to a strong start in Statesboro, picking up a pair of straight-set wins.
The Lady Panthers defeated Lakeside 25-23, 26-24, then came back to beat Statesboro 25-14, 25-19.
Ellie Ayala had a big day all around for Savannah Arts, finishing with 10 aces, seven kills, 14 assists and 13 digs.
Charlotte Browne added six aces, 12 kills and four blocks. Ava Dancey had two aces, five kills and nine digs, while Helen Crenshaw chipped in with an ace, five kills and two digs. Bella Jaqua added two aces and five digs.
The two victories also marked a milestone for Savannah Arts head coach Lauren Lord, who picked up her 250th career win at Savannah Arts Academy, according to athletic director Karin Best.
The Lady Panthers won't have to wait long to get back on the court.
Savannah Arts returns home today at The Pit. The JV team takes on Glynn Academy at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity against Glynn Academy at 5 p.m. and Jenkins at 7 p.m.
Two matches. Two wins. And career victory No. 250 for Coach Lord.
That's a pretty good trip to Statesboro for the Lady Panthers.
