(SAVANNAH, GA) St. Andrew’s is pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Vaughn will lead the Lions as Head Varsity Baseball Coach for the 24/25 season. He will also serve as Defensive Coordinator this fall for the Varsity Football team.
Vaughn brings ten years of experience as a coach and will join the St. Andrew’s
community this summer after completing four years as the assistant baseball coach at Calvary Day School where they just celebrated an undefeated region title and trip to the state title game. He also served as an assistant football coach and teacher at CDS.
“I am excited for the chance to lead a baseball program,” said Coach Vaughn. “I have turned down offers in
the past to serve as a head baseball coach but this opportunity feels right, and I am ready for the challenge.“
Vaughn played baseball at the college level at both East Georgia State College and Missouri Southern State University. He holds multiple season and career records at both EGSC and MSSU as he tossed 148.1 innings over 91 appearances posting a 13-6 record with 18 saves, a 2.91 ERA and a .209 BAA.
“We are very excited to welcome Stephen to St. Andrew’s,” said Head of School Dr. Kelley Waldron. “He is a wonderful asset to our athletic leadership team and will have a real impact with so many of our student athletes, assisting with football and leading the way for our baseball program.”
After many years of dedicated service, Coach Scott Abernathy recently announced his retirement as Head Coach of the St. Andrew’s Baseball team. He played a key role in rebuilding the school’s baseball program and leaves behind a great legacy.
“Scott had many successful seasons and has shared his love of the game with so many of our St. Andrew’s students and alumni and for that we are grateful,” said Athletic Director Jeff Gonzalez.
