The second season starts Saturday.

Three Savannah-area teams will open the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) volleyball playoffs as the first and second rounds get underway. St. Andrew’s and Savannah Country Day are in Class AAA. Memorial Day will compete in Class AA.

St. Andrew’s (24-1) hosts Dominion Christian (13-9) at noon. Junior Khloe Jesswein leads the Lions with 182 kills. Senior setter Grace Dare has 313 assists, and senior Ryan McGee has 81 kills.

If St. Andrew’s wins, it will play at 4 p.m. against the winner of Loganville Christian (12-11) and Bethlehem Christian (11-12).

Savannah Country Day (15-17) travels to Brookstone to face George Walton Academy (21-16). Senior Olivia Aliotta leads the Hornets with 241 kills. Junior setter Emily Grace James has 368 assists, and sophomore Sloan Askew has 49 service aces.

A win sends the Hornets to a 4 p.m. match against the winner of Brookstone (26-4) and Lakeview (12-16).

Memorial Day (10-6) plays LaGrange Academy (11-18) at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Academy. The winner advances to face Piedmont (16-1) at 4 p.m.

The semifinals and finals are next week at George Walton Academy in Monroe. The first two rounds are Saturday. The teams that advance will keep playing for a state title.
