The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) started a new lacrosse event in 2023 called the PLL Jr. Championship. The event aims to get the best U11 and U13 lacrosse players from all over the country together for a week of training, competition, and introduction to the PLL.

Two local lacrosse players from the Sweetlax Savannah Hawkbills 2027 attended the PLL Jr. camps and were drafted. They are Connor Hartley, an eighth grader at Savannah Country Day who is an attackman and midfielder Colton Price, also in eighth grade from St. Andrew's School.

"Conner has great hands and can catch almost anything that comes his way. He can dodge and shoot from the outside as well. He's an all-around attackman. He loves the game and works hard at it constantly, and it shows," said Christian Harris of Lowcountry Lacrosse.

Harris said, "Colton is a tenacious hustler on the field. He's a true two-way midfielder heavily involved between the lines in the clearing and riding game, which shows his ability to help any team win."

Training camps for the PLL Jr. Championship occurred in Florida and Arizona in January and February. At these camps, PLL players and trainers teach the kids the skills and strategies they need to play at the highest levels.

The camps also have four games that give the kids a chance to play against each other and some of the best lacrosse players in the world.

The best players in each age group are chosen from the training camps to participate in the PLL Jr. Championship Finals. The inaugural PLL Junior Championships will occur August 4th-6th in Baltimore, MD.

ESPN+ and Homewood Field will host the Championship games from each age division. The players get complete gear kits from their teams, which also dress them. The top two teams in each age group play on the same field as the pros.
