Starting in Week 2, The John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week will have two awards, a pitcher and the position player of the week. The Prep Sports Report wants you, the fans, to nominate your favorite high school baseball player who had an outstanding game or week on the baseball diamond for the season of 2023 by letting the Prep Sports Report Staff know.

Then the PSR will contact your player's coach for all the info for your nominee to be the baseball player of the week. All nominations are due EACH MONDAY AT 10:00 AM. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, and thank you for your nomination (s).
PITCHER of the WEEK
Player: Braiden Swab - junior, Pitcher

HIGHLIGHT: On the mound against Effingham County on Friday, March 3, 2023, Braedin went 5.1 innings giving up 0 earned runs and striking out 10. Only giving up two hits and two walks.
COACH'S COMMENT: "Even though Braedin got the loss this week in his outing, he went out and pitched his guts out. He gave up two unearned runs in the first but then put zeros on the board the next 4.1 innings. He did a great job on the bump and gave us a chance to win," said Islands High School Head baseball coach Brandon Collins.

POSITION PLAYER of the WEEK
Player: Maddox Shiell - senior, outfielder
School: South Effingham High School
Sport: Baseball

HIGHLIGHT: In two games, Shiell was 3 for 5, with two home runs, three runs batted in, and two walks against Savannah Christian on February 27, 2023, and First Presbyterian Day on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
COACH'S COMMENT: "Maddox Shiell is a catalyst for our team. He hit 2 no doubters on Saturday vs. FPD. Every time he comes to the plate you feel like something good is about to happen.," said South Effingham High School Head baseball coach Jesse Osborne.
NOTE: SEHS lost to Savannah Christian 7-0 (Shiell 1-3 with a double) and defeated First Presbyterian Day 8-6 (Shiell 2-2, 3 runs scored, two walks with two home runs).
