John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week (Feb. 10-14, 2026)

Each week during the season, the Prep Sports Report will recognize two athletes — a Player of the Week and a Pitcher of the Week — honoring the top performances on the field. Benedictine Military School junior Omari Bruse and South Effingham senior Lance Cantaline have earned the first John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week honors of the 2026 season following standout performances that helped lead their teams to victory.

Player of the Week – Omari Bruse (Benedictine Military School, Junior)

Bruse, a shortstop committed to the University of Alabama Birmingham, as posted on social media on December 4, 2025, led the Cadets with a strong week at the plate.

Bruse went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs on Feb. 10, then added a 1-for-3 game with a run on Feb. 13 against Troup County.

In the two games played on Feb. 14, Bruse continued his hot streak. He went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs in the first game against Lassiter, then 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs against Effingham.

“Omari has been a catalyst to our offense,” said Benedictine head coach Jason Pascual. “He’s setting the table for the middle of our order, but also cashing in runs for us as the bottom of our lineup has been doing a great job turning the lineup over.”

Pitcher of the Week – Lance Cantaline (South Effingham, Senior)

Cantaline delivered one of the most impressive pitching performances of the young season, throwing a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 victory over Ware County.

The senior allowed just three hits, struck out seven, and walked two over seven innings, controlling the game from the first pitch to the last. Early in the season, a pitcher throwing a complete game—especially in a 1-0 win—is special and shows the trust his team has in him.

“Lance was dominant last week against Ware,” said South Effingham head coach Jesse Osborne. “He showed extreme poise and command of the zone for seven innings against an aggressive offensive team. He has been doing it for three years now, so we expect it every time he pitches.”
