The Savannah-area high school football season enters Week 8 as playoff races intensify. Several region showdowns and rivalry games highlight the schedule, with teams beginning their push for November. Here’s a full preview with updated standings through Week 7.

Storylines to Watch in Week 8

**Can Richmond Hill defend home turf against Camden County  in a pivotal Region 1-6A showdown?

**Will Benedictine continue to build momentum after its comeback region-opening win over Ware County?

**Who takes control in Region 3-3A race: Calvary Day or Long County?

**Can Bethesda Academy  remain unbeaten in its toughest road test yet at Beaufort Academy?

Camden County (5–1, 0–1 Region 1-6A) at Richmond Hill (5–1, 1–0 Region 1-6A) (7 PM)

Richmond Hill improved to 5–1 after a 35–10 win at Tift County in its region opener. Camden also stands at 5–1 but dropped its first region game in a lopsided loss to Valdosta. This matchup is an early measuring stick in Region 1-6A and may shape playoff seeding.

Bradwell Institute (2–3, 2–2 Region 1-5A) at Brunswick (5–1, 4–0 Region 1-5A)

Bradwell scored 51 points in a road win over Greenbrier last week. The Tigers are back to .500 in the region but now face first-place Brunswick, undefeated in region play with a five-game win streak.

Greenbrier (2–4, 0–3 Region 1-5A) at South Effingham (2–3, 2–1 Region 1-5A)

South Effingham edged Evans 14–10 last week to move above .500 in region play. Greenbrier is still seeking its first region win. This game is critical for the Mustangs' playoff hopes.

Warner Robins (3–3, 0–1 Region 1-4A) at Benedictine (3–2, 1–0 Region 1-4A) (Memorial Stadium)

Benedictine rides a three-game win streak after a 30–27 victory over Ware County. The Cadets look to sustain momentum as they host Warner Robins in a key Region 1-4A matchup at Memorial Stadium.

Islands (1–4, 1–3 Region 3-3A) at Beach (1–3, 1–3 Region 3-3A) (Groves Stadium)

Both teams sit near the middle of the Region 3-3A standings. Islands and Beach are searching for momentum, and this city rivalry could provide it.

Long County (4–1, 3–1 Region 3-3A) at Calvary Day (4–1, 3–1 Region 3-3A)

This key Region 3-3A matchup features two playoff contenders. Calvary Day returns from a bye after losing to Jenkins, and Long County aims to keep up with region leaders after edging Beach.

Jenkins (4–1, 4–0 Region 3-3A) at Windsor Forest (1–4, 0–4 Region 3-3A) (Islands Stadium)

Jenkins leads Region 3-3A on the strength of its dominant rushing attack. Windsor Forest is still searching for its first region win.

Johnson (2–3, 2–2 Region 3-3A) at Liberty County (5–1, 4–1 Region 3-3A)

Johnson’s run game faces a tough Liberty defense, which holds second in Region 3-3A after three straight wins. The Panthers must win to stay close to Jenkins in the standings.

Savannah Country Day (2–3, 0-0 Region 3-3A) at Savannah Christian (3-3, 0-0 Region 3-3A) (Pooler Stadium)

Savannah Christian nearly upset Blessed Trinity in overtime but fell 35–32. The Raiders return home for a region opener against crosstown rival Savannah Country Day, which is improving behind QB Thomas Holland.

Screven County (5-0, 3-0 Region 3A-DII) at Bryan County (4–2, 3–1 Region 3A-DII)

Undefeated Screven County visits Bryan County for a key region showdown. The Redskins relied on their rushing attack in a 42–7 win over Claxton, but will need their best effort to challenge a dominant Screven team.

Bethesda Academy (4–0) at Beaufort Academy (5–1)

Bethesda is unbeaten through four games. Its biggest test comes on the road against Beaufort Academy in SCISA non-region play.

Harvest Community School (1-5) at St. Andrew’s (2–4) (Daffin Park, 7 PM)

St. Andrew’s looks to rebound after a Week 7 loss to Robert Toombs. This non-region home matchup gives the Lions a chance to improve their record.
