Back Home: Ken Griner '77 Returns to Lead SCPS Sports Information Department

Savannah, GA: Savannah Christian Preparatory School (SCPS) Head of School Jeff Plank has announced that Mr. Ken Griner, SCPS '77, has joined SCPS as the Sports Information Director for Raider Athletics! Being an alumnus and from Savannah, Georgia, Griner brings an understanding of the SCPS school community and the surrounding area. In addition to his role in showcasing SCPS teams and student-athletes, Ken will also be leading a media production class for our upper school students.

 

Ken's background is impressive; he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Georgia and a career in broadcasting. Starting as a news reporter for WCHY FM/WWSA AM radio, he eventually rose to become a known news anchor and sports director at WTOC-TV in Savannah. Recently, he was the Director of Broadcasting at Calvary Day School. His passion for sports is evident through his induction into the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame, which made him one of four SCPS athletes to receive this recognition.

Ken's return to Savannah Christian is professional and personal, marking a reunion with SCPS. He now joins over 20 faculty and staff members who are also alumni, reflecting SCPS's commitment to nurturing individuals in mind, body, and spirit for the glory of God. Ken's partnership with the SCPS Advancement Office will help enhance relationships with our alum network.

SCPS believes that Ken's broadcasting experience, teaching abilities, and love for sports will significantly impact SCPS athletes, coaches, students, and alumni. SCPS welcomes Ken back to the Raider family.
