In his time as the Benedictine starting quarterback, Holden Geriner has achieved many firsts. On February 1, he added to that list.
Geriner, a pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2022, announced on his Twitter profile that he had committed to play college football at Auburn University after visiting the school last weekend.
He is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent with Auburn next National Signing Day. When he does, he’ll become the first Savannah quarterback to sign with a Power 5 school since recruiting services began ranking prospects and signing classes.
ICYMI - QB PREVIEW SERIES: Holden Geriner, Benedictine
Auburn is entering its first season with Bryan Harsin as its head coach after he departed Boise State. Harsin hired former University of South Carolina interim head coach and former Colorado State head coach -- former University of Georgia quarterback and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo -- as his new offensive coordinator.
With offers from several Power 5 schools, Geriner chose Auburn over Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Arkansas, Michigan and West Virginia.
“I chose Auburn because I’ve been around the SEC all my life and having the opportunity to play in it was always a dream of mine,” Geriner said in a text message exchange with the Prep Sports Report. “To do it for an amazing university, phenomenal coaches and former quarterbacks in Coach (Bryan) Harsin and Coach (Mike) Bobo is incredible.”
“I’m very excited!”
The 3-star recruit (247 Sports consensus) threw for 2770 yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior, leading the Cadets to the GHSA Class 4A Final-4. During his career at BC, Geriner has tallied 4,183 passing yards and 39 touchdown passes.
