Savannah's volleyball scene sets the spotlight on this week's two standout senior leaders—Maggie Allen of Savannah Arts Academy and Bri Tuten of St. Vincent’s Academy—who earn Coach’s Corner Volleyball Player of the Week honors for their pivotal late-season performances.
Savannah Arts libero Maggie Allen reached a milestone last week, recording her 1,000th career dig. She has only played libero for two years, but she is one of the top defensive players in the area. Allen was also named the 3AA Region Defensive Player of the Week. In matches against Hardaway and Jackson, she finished with 4 aces, 1 kill, 6 assists, and 27 digs.
Head coach Lauren Lord praised Allen for her dedication and leadership. “This player deserves to be player of the week because this player exemplifies dedication and selflessness both on and off the court,” Lord said. “She consistently gives everything she has for the team, always striving to improve her skills and contribute in any way possible. Her thoughtful approach and genuine desire to elevate not only our team but future teams as well set her apart as a true leader. Her commitment to growth and to helping those around her succeed embodies the spirit of teamwork and excellence. It has been a privilege to coach such an inspiring athlete.”
At St. Vincent’s Academy, senior outside hitter Bri Tuten helped lead the Saints to the GHSA Class 3A Elite Eight round. She recorded 27 kills and 21 digs to spark the team’s playoff run.
Head coach Sarah Stewart said Tuten’s leadership has made a lasting impact. “So proud of this senior for the impact she’s made on our offense all season long, especially in the playoffs,” Stewart said. “Her presence, leadership, and work ethic have left a lasting mark on our program. We’ll definitely miss her next year!”
Allen and Tuten combined hard work and leadership to drive their teams’ success.
